Apparently executables built with Go before 1.17 implicitly relied on the fact that the VDSO did not mangle r30, but with the generic C implementation it now does. This leads to random crashes in Go executables. This is fixed with https://go-review.googlesource.com/c/go/+/334410/1 and I submitted this to our go1.16 package with https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/907807. However, all executables built with a compiler which doesn't include that will not work on kernel >= 5.13. This probably affects containerized workloads as well. As recently as yesterday, it was possible to launch YAST2 from the menu, but now cannot on both a 15.2 and a newly installed and updated 15.3. At first, noticed trying to install an app using One Click Install on to the 15.3 machine, and the install failed because root permissions not set. Then, noticed the same problem unable to launch YAST2 on a 15.2 from the menu... Was able to enter credentials but then failed saying that root permissions required. Of course in the case of the 15.2 machine I could get around the problem by launching from a root console. This all seems to have happened within the past 24 hours. I tried to enter the command from one of YaST links in /usr/share/applications/YaST2: $ LC_ALL=C xdg-su -c "/sbin/yast2 users" No protocol specified bash: /sbin/yast2 users: No such file or directory $ I have installed my system from netinstall image (29 May) with basic X11 environment and "lxqt" pattern.
