Make sure you have a few icons in a row in the desktop 2. Given a "row" of icons, click on the leftmost one to select it 3. Press and hold the Shift key. While holding it, hit the right arrow key so as to select one more icon to the right, without releasing the Shift key 4. optionally repeat step 3 one or more times 5. Release the shift key. Press and hold the shift key again 6. hit the right arrow key while keeping shift pressed 7. Optionally repeat step 6 8. release the Shift key Expected: The icons selected at steps 2-4 shoulr remain selected throughout the whole process. At steps 5-8 more icons should be added to the selection besides those initially selected. Observed: At step 5, the icons previously selected still appear as selected (as expected), but as soon as you do step 6, selection gets lost and restarts with the "current" icon, and only that one and the ones you select afterwards are selected. Maybe the USB cable is bad?" repeatedly in /var/log/messages. In addition to this: 1. The boot process takes several minutes longer. 2. KDE login manager takes ~ 1 minutes to start up after X-windows starts up. 3. KDE login manager takes ~ 1 minutes to start up logoff. 4. KDE Plasma desktop takes ~1 minute to fully start up. 5. Dolphin file browser takes ~minute to start up. 6. Deleting files into the Wastebasket, attempting to display the contents of the Wastebasket, or emptying the Wastebasket all take some time to complete. This problem was solved using a bespoke kernel with an upstream patch reverted; see https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1149871 for more information. We have an inconsistency here: [ 3.496024] usb 3-1: new full-speed USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd Please attach the output of "lsusb -t". This needs to be verified because upstream is investigating an issue between XHCI and storage and IOMMU. So the steps before the GPU reset seem mostly equivalent, and the difference appears after GPU mode1 reset -- maybe the changes in that part really play some role, as 5.4 seems to have changed the GPU reset method depending on the condition. I tried to backport some relevant patches from 5.4, and the test kernel is being built in OBS home:tiwai:bsc1179925 repo. It takes some time (an hour or so) until the build finishes.
