I mean, it seems to be a problem in the package itself, not with the installation. So, I am going to reassign the bug report to the current maintainer, just to see if he could help. BTW, in openSUSE Tumbleweed, where is being installed the 6.2.0 version instead of 5.1.2, it works without problems. Maybe looking at the changes could help. I don't know. The backlight going darker at the boot time might be the systemd trying to restore the saved value. See systemd-backlight man page. It's saved in /var/lib/systemd/backlight/*. And the backlight going darker during X session is done by the desktop itself.
