However if you only wanted to change the keyboard layout, you'll have to undo the language selection. I recommend separate boot parameters for: * keyboard layout * language * timezone So one common use case is to use English language, German timezone and German keyboard layout. This would force most users to do 3 separate selections rather than just one. The vast majority of users set all 3 things at the same time. If you are German, you very likely want the German language, the German keyboard layout, and time zone Germany. The exceptional case are those few people who want German language and time zone, yet use a US keyboard. We don't optimize for the exceptional case. Rpm --rebuilddb does nothing if it is running in old system. There is no output on console, but it destroy entirely rpm database when it is run after rpm upgrade. The error is something like "cannot delete directory ...". This directory exist, around it there are more directories, look like a rpm something. The error SIGSEGV occurs when problematic package has to be removed. It means, after SIGSEGV there are two versions of one package, for example xrefresh. One old, one brand new. Old rpm has no problem with removing the old one, but new rpm crash. Some of this about 200 errors are just deleting old package with the new rpm installed. Removing old V3 key unmask this SIGSEGV error of rpm for displaying in zypper console dump. I didn't know about it, until You showed me, where the zypper.log is (there are something else, than a console dump). There is no problem to upgrade a fresh new install of openSUSE-42.3 to openSUSE-15.0. So not having CAP_SYS_ADMIN in NM is a good thing in general even though the rest of the system would need more tuning of permissions to really take advantage of that (like 555 on /). Adding CAP_SYS_ADMIN back would be a step in the wrong direction from a security PoV. If we had to do that for something really needed always, the tradeoff would probably be worth it. However so far looks like no other component than ypbind ie NIS misses a properly set domainname. Looks like NIS is rather unusual these days, even though very important inside SUSE. To make setdomainname work despite missing CAP_SYS_ADMIN we'd need a method similar to setting the hostname, ie a dbus interface to systemd-hostnamed to set the domainname. Due to timing that simply won't happen for 15.1.
