According to the Ghostscript documentation at https://ghostscript.com/doc/7.07/Use.htm#Change_default_size this can be changed by editing the initialization file gs_init.ps, located in the Resource/Init directory. Editing a file that will be replaced with the next update would not be good, but there is another problem, there is no file gs_init.ps to edit. Also according to https://www.ghostscript.com/doc/current/Use.htm#Finding_files if built with COMPILE_INITS=1 (currently the default build) the files in the Resource directory are built into the executable. So how to change the default paper size, preferably in a way that will survive the next update? It should be possible to change the file gs_init.ps before building Ghostscript so that it would read something like /etc/sysconfig/ghostscript. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Actually, most users only need very few of them. But we need to be very careful not to reduce the number of kernel firmware packages that we install too much; while it seems intuitive to only install those that are required for hardware that is currently installed in the system, a user might need more of them: - For plug-in hardware like USB etc. - In case critical hardware is replaced like a mainboard, a CPU, a hard disk controller, a graphics card, a network card. They need to work at least well enough to support installing additional firmware packages. We need to support hardware failure (and replacement with hardware that requires different firmware) as well as hardware upgrade (where a user might or might not have enough foresight to install the firmware for the new hardware before exchanging the hardware). For virtualization scenarios we don't need to install any firmware packages, but that is already handled by package dependencies on the kernel / kernel-firmware package side. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Regarding this issue here: The error message string "No suitable destination host found by cups-browsed" appears in the cups-filters source code file backend/implicitclass.c So if this issue here is a bug its root cause could be in cups-filters. We (i.e. openSUSE) do not develop cups-filters. We only distribute it "as is" from cups-filters upstream https://github.com/OpenPrinting/cups-filters There are several issues mentioned in the cups-filters changelog about "cups-browsed" and "implicitclass", cf. https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/Printing/cups-filters/cups-fil… Currently we provide cups-filters version 1.25.0. Perhaps the issue is already fixed in this version?
