I clicked, "print" then selected "print preview" then closed the window. I'm guessing now, but I'd guess that that was when these messages appeared. The "print preview" stuff seems kind of dodgy. Printing to printer from the preview doesn't work (usually), so I close that window and start another print task. That failure-to-print-from-preview is pretty consistent and reproducible (and not Gimp specific). The other programs didn't stumble with assertion failures, however.
