It looks like the content panel on the right side could not be populated with the required widgets, so the old widgets are still there. The reason for this is obviously the failure from that UI exception - the syntax error. I don't know exactly how and where, but some values from some internal maps are probably meant to be stored in the widgets, and one of them appears to be 'nil'. But the documentation of that function explicitly says that it will return 'nil' if the user canceled that directory selection pop-up with the [Cancel] button: https://doc.opensuse.org/projects/YaST/openSUSE11.3/tdg/AskForExistingDirec… In that case, 'val' becomes 'nil', The 'Value' property is set to this 'nil', and the UI (correctly!) complains that this is an invalid value for the Label widget. Dropping the aligned attribute is a valid fix (the extra NULL check seems unrelated to the issue). If I use Nvidia instead of Nouveau, the missing scrollbar, text boxes etc are ok and remain ok. But if I "Suspend" then return, the names under the desktop icons are corrupted. To fix that problem, changing the desktop configuration from "Folder View" to "Desktop View" and back again fixes all the icon names even if I suspend again.
