Might be good to ask kscreen developers about what is going on. It appears to work as it should under Fedora 23, and pretty much not at all under Ubuntu (hard locks the machine under Ubuntu). I'm going to download Fedora's SRPMs for both the Xorg server and ATI driver to compare against the builds from openSUSE.
