In this case on a Dell PowerEdge R510 machine. Due to Dell device naming scheme[1] the machine provides device names like em1 for network cards. The kernel itself provides names like eno1. After installation both names are mixed up: The em1 device name shows up in yast and is configured for DHCP but is not linked to any real device. The eno1 device shows up too, but is not configured. Installing biosdevname solves that mess with a new udev rule naming all network devices "the Dell way". As a result the proper interface is configured for DHCP and works. According to the whitepaper passing biosdevname=0 during installation is meant to solve this the other way through disabling the Dell names. Rebooted and still not connection. I had to install an older clone and update every thing to the latest except kernel-firmware.
