But grub 2.00 documentation shows that it can use device UUID to replace device name. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Extract grub.efi, bootx64.efi,grub.cfg and MokManager.efi from SLES 11.3 x64 ISO, edit grub.cfg and specify the SLES 11.3 x64 installation source. 2. Copy these files to the hard disk and boot into grub 2 via UEFI mode. 3. Use UUID to specify the device that OS will be installed. Actual Results: SLES 11.3 x64 can't be installed to the device, and grub 2 can't boot into OS via device UUID. Booting in failsafe also gives black screen. Booting with boot code plymouth.enable=0 makes no difference (same black screen). Pressing < ctrl> <alt><F2> brings to full screen text login. Install appears to have been successful except for final graphics. PC has a nvidia FX5200 AGP graphic card. PC is an old athlon-1100 but has 2GB of RAM and 32-bit openSUSE-12.3 with lxde works well on this PC. But given failsafe also gives black screen its not clear this is a graphical problem. With nominal boot, if press <esc> to monitor during boot, last on screen messages are: [ok] started login service [ok] started LSB: X Display Manager I will post log files in subsequent posts to this bug report Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot PC to 13.1 2. 3. Actual Results: Get black screen when booting. If press <ESC> obtain text until boot process stops around the time of autologin/X loading. Expected Results: Shoot boot to GUI with automatic user login I will attach log files in subsequent posts. There's a menu item for it in the KDM menu. However, selecting that menu item takes me into Gnome (without the classic). If I switch to GDM, then Gnome Classic does work from there. NOTE: The same problem happens in Tumbleweed (on a 64 bit system). Well, okay, it happened when I last checked. I have not switched back to KDM to test after the last TW updates.
