It seems does not matter if k3b uses growisofs or cdrecord as backend. Media was sometimes readable except of last few files. So when cryptsetup.rpm is updated as part of a 12.2->12.3 setup, the scripts will be gone and the mkinitrd call done in cryptsetup.rpm's %post then ensures one won't be able to boot the system anymore without a rescue media.
