I selected the network set for additional installation. I selected the static network setup and entered the IP address, mask, gateway and DNS addresses. After going forward with these selections, I get the following errors: command /sbin/ip link set 'eth0' up has failed The output of the command was: sh /sbin/ip: No such file or directory Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Normal installation from DVD 2. So I created file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/01-custom.conf with the following contents: Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "Disable" EndSection Unfortunately it seems to have no effect. In /var/log/Xorg.0.log I found: [ 30.482] (**) Extension "Composite" is disabled ... [ 31.055] (II) Initializing built-in extension COMPOSITE So apparently the configuration statement is properly parsed and understood, but it is then ignored. A quick test on a different machine running openSUSE 12.1 led to the same conclusion. While testing different display managers for these two bugs: Bug 807091 - XFCE ignores .i18n file Bug 807097 - On default XFCE install, display manager fails to halt or reboot machine ...I found out that installing 'wdm' and swithching to it crashed the machine hard. Procedure: alt-ctrl-f1 log as root init 3 edit displaymanager variable init 5 I had to reboot by power cycling. Machine did not reach graphical mode. Had to edit displaymanager entry back to xdm and reboot, init 3/5 failed again. So the iso has been spun incorrectly; it should be respun and shrunk. Note: this did not happen with 64 bit RC1. This is new for RC2. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to burn the iso of the 64 bit install DVD, with Xfburn or with Nero for Linux 2. 3. Actual Results: Failure: not enough space on DVD Expected Results: It should have burned the image as usual, just like RC1 (which was OK). I triple check the data -- first downloaded iso image vs. sha1 sum, then burner checked the burned disc, and then I checked the medium with the installer verifier. No errors. When I run installer on MacBookPro: * with default resolution or lower when it comes to showing license agreement in upper half of the screen I see "white noise" and in the second (bottom) half I see half of the content * with "no KMS" option turned on, installer freezes on "starting udev" step The efffect is, I cannot install OS 12.3 using GUI installer. This is regression, because I don't have such problem with previous versions of OS.
