I know I can get to see the output by running the init-script from /etc/init.d, but what about the output during startup or when you run 'rcxxxxx start'? For anyone installing third party stuff (e.g. HP PSP) or writing their own, it's not very helpful. Example - because of bug#730753, I am using the snmpd from 11.4. After loading vncviewer I see the installation, but then things appear to be broken; an error pops up telling me it is worth reporting a bug, the license is blank, and there are no install options other than 'Other' which, when chosen, throws an error trying to move on (which essentially stops the installation). Screenshots are attached. First major sign of problems: "Yast was unable to find the correct control file. We are using a fall-back one. This should not happen and is worth reporting a bug." Final error preventing progress: "No system type was selected. Select the default type." Reproducible: I've done it twice now on my system out of two attempts. Expected Results: Find all necessary files Actual Results: Some files apparently are not being found. TuxRacer had an incredible amount of screen-dirt with random, un-textured / blue polygons appearing - all of them with a vertex of the top-right corner. GNOME Shell was also bad though partly usable with flickering junk at the top. no idea if that's helpful. I tried using 'rcradvd restart' which, although it looked like it worked, it didn't. Then systemctl restart radvd.service. Nope. I eventually had to use "rcradvd restart -x" which forced a bypass of systemd.
