Then I corrected the time in YaST. The following reboot, the time was wrong of 7 hours (the difference between Italy and US). So I followed some suggestion given to me on IRC: - Set time with date - Sync hwclock to system time - Delete /etc/adjtime When the system is on, both the clocks are fine, but at the following reboot the problem is there again. I then found this post: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-help-here/install-boot-login/437966-… where the proposed solution is the same as above, but with the addition of running mkinitrd at the end. It worked, however it is not clear to me why I should run mkinitrd to change the time, and I think it is a bug. Unfortunately, if called as "sh" instead of "bash" its syntax slightly changes. For example a-b () { :; } is a valid function definition in bash but fails in sh. So, if the user calling /usr/sbin/Check while rebuilding for example an opensuse source rpm his .bashrc is consulted but the bash runs in sh-mode. Hence "rpmbuild --rebuild" may fail due to the $HOME/.bashrc of an arbitrary user. One possible solution is to change the shebang line in /usr/sbin/Check to #!/bin/bash Another solution is to put more intelligence into the code to tell apart bash and sh in /etc/profile. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. create a .bashrc for a normal user (not root!) containing "a-b () { :; }" 2. call as this user /usr/sbin/check 3. In short: This warning shouldn't be there. If I look at bugs like http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=580430 in den Debian bugtracker, it seems like pam_mount is probably warning about the missing fskeyhash in other situations (like mounting tmpfs) in which it doesn't make sense. I talked to the pam_mount upstream author (Jan Engelhardt) and this problem seems to be fixed in more current versions of pam_mount. Thanks in advance! My question now is: Is this just a typo in the rpm output, or does rpm try to update the wrong, normally non-existing files relative to the directory from which 'zypper up' was started? I was requested to file this as a bug so that it doesn't get overlooked. The repository in question is KDE:Distro:Factory where KDE 4.4.93 (4.5-rc2) got updated to 4.4.95 (4.5-rc3). Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have any KDE4 version previous to 4.4.95 installed. 2. Run 'zypper up' (verbosity at your choice), or 'zypper dup' if updating to 4.4.95 requires vendor change. 3. There appears to be a general set of permissions problems with the tomcat directory structure, since the server runs with user/group tomcat but there are not group write permissions on things like /var/cache/tomcat6, /var/log/tomcat6 /srv/tomcat6/webapps etc. I also have a suspicion that /etc/tomcat6/Catalina is supposed to be a symbolic link to /var/cache/tomcat6/Catalina since the server attempts to write there. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install tomcat 6 2. Add the tomcat user with role manager to /etc/tomcat6/tomcat-users.xml 3. Run /etc/init.d/tomcat6 start 4. Open a web browser and attempt to go to http://localhost:8080/manager/status Actual Results: Error message from tomcat saying /manager/status not found. /var/log/tomcat6/catalina.out contains a number of errors of the form java.io.FileNotFoundException: /usr/share/tomcat6/logs/catalina.2010-07-26.log (Permission denied) java.io.FileNotFoundException: /etc/tomcat6/Catalina/localhost/manager.xml (Permission denied) java.io.FileNotFoundException: /usr/share/tomcat6/work/Catalina/localhost/docs/SESSIONS.ser (No such file or directory) etc. Expected Results: Status display screen. The work-around is quite simple. 1. Add g+w to the various tomcat /var and /srv directories 2.
