After boot the hardware clock is set to UTC again. Who made software changes that time change will only happen if the hardware clock is set to UTC? My systems have been set to local time and have been changing time twice a year, correctly, for years. Now in 12.2 the earth is going to end if I don't set the Hardware Clock to UTC. Dave W Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install and de-select UTC. 2. 3. >From Yast GUI. I you want to keep local time you must adjust the CMOS clock twice the year because of Day Light Savings switches. Everything works smoothly with 11.3 client installations. A fresh installed 12.1 workstation does not allow login. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: I have problem remembering the exact order/steps I took, in essence I think is was something like: 1. fresh install a 12.1. During install select ldap and automounted home using sssd - leave rest as default 2. update 3. add kerberos 4. remove samba (Bug 724777) When I get time in a couple of days I'll try to recreate from scratch. Actual Results: A cold boot after the Kerberos tickets has expired newer present a gui login box. It just stays waiting with a spinning cursor. On the file server I see that the client tries to access the last logged in users home - which obviously fails as the kerberos ticket for this user is not created yet. Expected Results: A gui login box If I switch to a console and perform a text login for last logged on user (thereby creating the missing ticket and mounting the users home) the DM recovers and presents the login box. I have tried to set KDM_USERS = nobody in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager but this setting seems to be ignored. I could not fix it, even after deinstalling fglrx and rebuilding initrd (also tried to delete /var/run/mdadm/map and rebuild initrd but it didn't help) Actual Results: system boot in emergency mode, md.service failed to load. All filesystems in /etc/fstab are mounted though (whether they are in the RAID arry or not). The system is on sda and NOT in RAID. The RAID1 array in sdb+sdc is used for data storage only. I'm able to start md.service manually (!?), but other services such as network or dbus will fail and bring me back to emergency mode after the timeout. Expected Results: md.service starts as well as all other services and/or rebuilding initrd fixes the problem. I actually tried to save initrd before fglrx rebuild it and copy it back to /boot, but it didn't help. The issue is very similar to the one reported here: http://old.nabble.com/-opensuse--12.2-won%27t-boot,-mdadm-RAID1-problem-tc3… and also similiar to this bug https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=733283, which was apparently fixed under 12.1. My guess is that the fact that fglrx is involved here is an epihenomenom. I'm afraid it might happen in other situations. I was able to configure the NIC maually and set a default route, so I could reinstall the latest kernel. It rebuilt initrd but didn't help. I can not start sshd and I'm stuck in emergency mode. (Eventually succeeded, with much effort and BIOS update). This board needed custom boot parameter video=LVDS-1:d. The OpenSuse 12.2 installer had dialog boxes/functionality to enter a custom grub/boot parameter. However, when the parameter was typed, and the save or proceed button (or whatever that button was) was pressed, the custom parameter was forgotten by the installer and not retained. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to install OpenSuse 12.2 (probably KDE installer via USB stick) 2. With installer, try to add custom boot parameter to be used on grub reboot 3. Installer accepts text edit, but drops it and does not save it into the new installation. 4. Go back to installer screen; custom parameter (e.g, video=LVDS-1:d) is gone. Actual Results: Installer incorrectly sticks with default boot parameter.
