There are not any nfs entries in /etc/fstab Problem: idmapd/sm-notify do not start (because there are no nfs entries in fstab) Workaround: Define some static entry in /etc/fstab for a nfs mount not related to the automounter. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Inital Install of openSuSE 11.3 Final 2. Configure NIS, enable Automounter as part of NIS setup in YaST 3. Do not add any nfs entry to /etc/fstab 4. Do not configure NFS Client in YaST Actual Results: idmapd and sm-notify are not started. Files under automount mount points may not be available due to ownership problems. Expected Results: Expected result: idmapd/sm-notify should be started if automounter is running. So some strings are not translated now. An example is the entry for sysinfo in kickoff. I followed the instructions to use the SUSE Studio image writer to create a live usb stick from iso of the live cd. Unfortunately, it's not working in Windows 7 because the usb stick is unable to boot after being restarted. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Download and launch the SUSE Studio ImageWriter in Windows. 2.Create a live usb stick using a live cd image for opensuse 11.3. 3.Reboot the computer. Actual Results: The usb stick is not booting up after being selected at start. The computer requested to press any key to reboot. Expected Results: It should display a proper screen for opensuse 11.3 to either test or install the live cd. I tried all the live usb creating software for different linux distributions that I found on the internet and none of them did work to boot the dvd iso image or the live cd.
