POSIX clearly states that if a writer is blocked, an additional reader entering into the lock must block until the writer has released the lock. pthread_rwlock_rdlock() does not implement that behavior. The additional reader obtains the lock while a thread wanting the write mode is blocked. The behavior of the 2-1 test is: main thread: -> obtain read lock writer thread: -> attempt to obtain write lock - block reader tread: -> attempt to obtain read lock - succeeds. The reader thread must block, since another thread wants a write lock. But with 11.4 Milestone 1, I notice that the updater applet shows all available updates/upgrades from all configured repositories, acting more like "zypper lu -a" instead. This is a major problem as the updater applet is the most common way a layman desktop user would do his package updates, and the current scenario means he will be exposed to all sorts of experimental package updates/upgrades that might be available from the non-standard sources he/she has configured. It is important, therefore that the updater applet only shows the official updates released by the maintenance team. Users interested to live on the bleeding edge should be able to do so by using YaST's SOftware Management appropriately. Before Tcl 8.5 this worked, because only the major and minor version numbers were taken into account, so e.g. 8.4.7 was considered an exact match if 8.4 was requested. With 8.5 the patch level counts as well, and so 8.5.9 is not an exact match for 8.5 anymore. One possible solution is to clear the exact flag meaning "I am fine with the requested version and any newer one that has the same major version number". But the call to Tcl_PkgRequire() is redundant, because the Tcl_InitStubs(), which is called immediately before, already makes sure that the Tcl version at hand matches the extension's expectations.
