I also have a logitech ( that uses the uvc driver) and I have no issues without the plugin installed. - ie its not needed anymore. Since /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock is not where the socket is. I changed the setting in /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini so that mysql.default_socket=/var/run/mysql/mysql.sock But the php.ini directive seems to be totally ignored.
