Actual Results: When if fails, status in network manager shows "Waiting for authorization". To make that happen I added the following line to pam_mount.conf.xml: <volume options="noatime,user_xattr,acl" user="tittel" mountpoint="/home/tittel" path="/dev/sda8" fstype="crypt"/> Also I added "auth optional pam_mount.so" to the last line of /etc/pam.d/common-auth-pc and "session optional pam_mount.so" to the last line of /etc/pam.d/common-session-pc to activate pam_mount. Quite often (but not always) when I login as "tittel" I receive the following error message from pam_mount: pam_mount(mount.c:64): Errors from underlying mount program: pam_mount(mount.c:68): device-mapper: remove ioctl failed: Device or resource busy In the background cryptsetup (or pam_mount) seems to retry the decryption and mounting process, so in the end decryption and mounting is successful. However, it is supposed to work on the first attempt (and it did work on first attempt on openSUSE versions 11.2 and earlier) and I am unsure about possible side-effects of this problem. It seems to me that this problem is not limited to pam_mount, but a general problem of mounting LUKS-partitions with cryptsetup. It might be nice for some admins to have their system use their locale, but they should install it when they want it. At least, this shouldn't return an error: # rpm -e glibc-locale error: Failed dependencies: glibc-locale is needed by (installed) yast2-ncurses-2.21.4-3.1.3.x86_64 glibc-locale is needed by (installed) man-2.5.2-37.1.2.x86_64 glibc-locale is needed by (installed) yast2-ncurses-pkg-2.21.2-1.1.2.x86_64 I suggesting removing the dependency, and admins wanting it should install glibc-locale manually. Unfortunately together with other current issues this leads to lose of network connection w/o possibility to reconnect: 1) Having WLAN connected I wanted to install networkmanager-plasmoid to test it. The package conflict forced me to accept knetworkmanager removal 2) plasmoid turned out not to properly start (issue to be investigated) At this point WLAN connection was already down as a consequence of knetworkmanager removal. 3) Fallback to LAN was not possible because obviously eth0 was deactivated by shutdown of knetworkmanager 4) The deactivation of eth0 is so thorough, that it is reported as "eth0: link is not ready" which pretends a hardware problem! Even switching network control to classic ifup/ifdown with yast2 does not remedy this situation (still pretending "link not ready")! Only by rebooting its possible to get "ifup eth0" working again. Most packages I use are default opensuse 11.3 packages, I only updated Qt to version 4.7.1 but I had those crashes with Qt 1.6.3, too (but I didn't have the debug packages installed at that time).
