The device is apparently detected since it is listed in 'lsusb' like: Bus 002 Device 003: ID 138a:0005 Validity Sensors, Inc. VFS301 Fingerprint Reader The problem is that Yast -> Fingerprint reader module reports there isn't any fingerprint reader device on the system. Using the latest version of fingerprint-gui (which also ships the UPEK drivers) gives me a perfect functionality of my device. However, Yast does still not recognize my device. Could it be easily implemented? Among them dbus-daemon, which I just tried to kill, after which the system went to normal state with the expected cpu usage. I don't know yet if it is reproducible and if other users have similar problems but thought to report it and see what comes from it.
