It will just say "Error: Can't open display:" Re-enabling IPv6 fixes the issue but is not desirable as IPv6 support remains unavailable in many areas. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Disable IPv6 on a remote machine 2.ssh -X in from other machine 3.try to run something like xclock Actual Results: You get a Error: Can't open display: message. The extra KDE application KNEMO just all of this and so much more. It would help any single PC or networked PC which easy and extensive information about the PC network connection. This affects e.g. dbus and hal packages. This should be either fixed in zypper, or fixed during the the second stage, which is run in the chroot (rpm --setguids). Actual Results: Note: the -i and -I options were exchangedfor compability with LBL traceroute Use -I for ICMP, and -i <ifname> to specify the interface name unable to create ICMP send socket: Permission denied Expected Results: There should be a route trace using ICMP echo requests. /var/log/audit/audit.log showed the line: type=AVC msg=audit(1302098571.660:201): apparmor="DENIED" operation="create" par ent=446 profile="/usr/sbin/traceroute" pid=5840 comm="traceroute" family="inet" sock_type="raw" protocol=255 I was able to work around the problem by editing the apparmor profiles in Yast, adding a line to allow "network inet raw" for traceroute, which apparently allows the use of raw sockets. It seems the problem is that 1) squiggle is running with a SecurityManager (why?); 2) it is asking for a trivial permission, and being denied; 3) it dies, rather than just catching. 3) isn't really a SuSE problem, but I think 1 and 2 might be. Batik has not had a revision since 11.3 before, where these problems did not occur, so I assume the problem is somehow related to the obvious repackaging done for 11.4 (squiggle.sh became xmlgraphics-batik-squiggle at some point...). I don't really have a good guess as to why squiggle should run with a SecurityManager. If it did so in 11.3 too (it is not easy for me to check), perhaps there is a new problem with jar signing (if the signature is invalid, then I guess the SecurityManager will be unhappy)? If not, then the obvious solution is to stop running it with the SM. I will try to take a closer look when I have access to an 11.3 install, but perhaps whoever did the repackaging for 11.4 (and apparently didn't test) has a better idea of what might have changed and how to fix it. Marking as major because the package is essentially worthless as-is. I don't remember any post-3.6 versions that do this, but those versions do not obey DTE DPI, and so are of limited use. Theme is default.
