Starting a scan, they all stop after transmitting a small amount of data and give an error message (I/O error). So only scans with a small resolution or of a very small area are possible. Downgrading from libusb-0_1-4-0.1.13-2.2.x86_64 to libusb-0_1-4-0.1.12-139.1.1.x86_64 or fromlibusb-0_1-4 0.1.13-2.2-i586 to libusb-0_1-4-0.1.12-139.1.1.i586 solves the problem completely BTW: To get the scanners to work at all, third party drivers from Brother have to be installed (in my case brscan-0.2.4-0.x86_64.rpm) first. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install brscan-0.2.4-0.x86_64 and a brother USB-scanner 2. Use xsane to make a scan with colour and a medium resolution. 3. LO has spell checks and grammar checks. Nice. I don't like to see red or blue waving lines underlining my handywork. When the word “openSUSE” happens at the start of a sentence, LO warns that the sentence should start in uppercase, which is absolutely correct in Spanish. They are right, that's the rule. No exceptions. There is a Royal Academy organization taking care of how Spanish is used: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Academia_Espa%C3%B1ola, http://www.rae.es/rae.html. There is no feedback about the downloading process; the installation screen shows that the previous step has been downloaded 100% but the current download is not visible and the download progress is not being updated. It appears the installer has been stalled, especially over a slow link. The boot images appear on the console only after they have fully arrived, with progress level of 100%. Expected Results: The boot image currently being downloaded should be announced on the console and download progress should be periodically updated from 0% to 100%. Workaround: Virtual terminal #3 shows the file (stage) being downloaded. Virtual terminal #9 allows you to examine the size of the target using the command { ls '-l' 'download'; }. If the size is increasing, all is good. Note: the ls command in the installer image is minimal; in particular, it does not work on files (it says "file not found"). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.insert install disk opensuse 11.3 and begin install 2.go through installation steps 3.install runs smooth until one reaches installation overview, when under bootloader the following message is displayed: “ Bootloader is installed on a partition that does not lie entirely below 128 GB. The system might not boot, if BIOS support only lba24 (result is error18 during install grub MBR)." I installed a test-Kernel from the Kernel-repo (2.6.34-44 and 2.6.34-48) and then after rebooting with the new Kernel everything works. So i wrote above, in January it was ok with the original Kernel. Then came an update in March or early April and then it happens. In 11.3 it is ok with the delivered Kernel. Expected Results: Trackpoint and Touchpad should be detected and work. If root is unable to access your home directory like in case of NFS or similar this results in some major issues. For example it prevents rpm to work properly (bnc#728856) in which succession Yast Software management doesn't work if opened with alt + f2 or from the start menu. If I ran yast2 from a 'su -' environment the package management works fine. This didn't happen with 11.4 from which I have upgraded to 12.1. When porinting the file, printing is indicated as complete, but nothing actually is printed. The same file can be printed by gedit and leafpad with no problems. I even tried placing the file in my home area, changing to be owned by and thus can be edited as a normal user and it still does not print. Very strange problem indeed. This problem cam to light in the openSUSE forum when another user pointed out the problem to me, as a Moderator in the forum. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Alt F2 and enter: kdesu kwrite /boot/grub/menu.lst 2. Do a File / Print & Print (Printer must be configured) 3. Printing indicates it was completed, but nothing actually prints. Actual Results: Nothing is printed on the printer and confirmed by another user in the openSUSE forums. You can test the very same command but use kate instead with the same results. Expected Results: Expecting the document to be printed on the selected printer. Under Opensuse 11.4 it was configured and recognised by the OS when it loaded the KDE desktop. Under 12.1 it is not recognised until I remove it and reinsert it. Then KDE recognises it and works fine, so the driver must be OK but KDE is not recognising it at the appropriate time. I have no real problem with removing and reinserting the USB stick to enable KDE to recognise it, but it means that the akonadi service can't connect to my mailbox at desktop load time. So after I remove and reinsert my USB wireless device, KDE recognises it, I then have to go into the Akonadi configuration and reconnect my on-line mailboxes. I am not a Linux expert, just a user so I have no idea what further information you need. If you want me to start anything up from the CLI please tell me the commands and I will run them. Also please remember that this problem didn't happen under 11.4 so I would have to guess that something has changed/regressed with 12.1 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Boot PC 2.No USB wireless connection 3. I use my system in a MS Windows Domain environment. Due to the wrong design of the KDM theme I had to change the displaymanager to oxygen-air to supply user/pass/domain. Since update to 12.1 I can not log in OFFLINE MODE anymore. If I change in /etc/pam.d/common-account the line account required pam_krb5.so use_first_pass ignore_unknown_principals to account sufficient pam_krb5.so use_first_pass ignore_unknown_principals I can log in again via KDM. PLEASE NOTE - logging in via terminal always works. Please check. Thank you. The yast2 mouse cursor icon jumps up and down for it´s 30sek and than happens nothing. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install openSUSE12.1 final(KDE default) 2.Run a KDE for several hours 3.See that calling yast2 from KDE kickstart fails out of nothing. Actual Results: KDE kickstart fails to call yast2 from a user session. There is no popup legitimation window, only the yast2 jumping mouse cursor for 30sec and than nothing. -> normal mouse cursor. Expected Results: KDE kickstart should be able to call yast2 from user session at any time.
