This is the default option. After installation, i'm prompt to Login manager where i have to login manually. cat /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager | grep AUTOLOGIN= DISPLAYMANAGER_AUTOLOGIN="" as you can see, no autologin has been set, i can manually edit this value to have autologin working as supposed. if that matter, i choosed LXDE as Desktop Enviroment. That use LXDM as Login Manager that support autologin and default session reading sysconfig infos because it has been patched. coolo told me on irc that yast2 probably have an hardcoded list of login managers supporting autologin... if this is the reason, please add lxdm on that list. I would think it's possible to simply use "pkcheck --action-id <action> --process <pid> -u <uid>" from the polkit package. Here's a patch that ports smpppd. Same outcome error message from cups, whether for existing or newly installed printers is: "Filter "/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip" for printer "bjc4310SP" not available: No such file or directory" similarly for printers using other filters making links from /usr/bin & /usr/lib/cups/filters to /usr/lib64/cups/filers gets rid of the error messages. I did not uninstall cups 1.3 prior to installing cups 1.4. Investigated it, but it would have required dozens of other packages uninstalled, to comply with dependencies, then reinstalled. Only the free software package iscan-free will still be provided by openSUSE. All Iscan software is made and provided by Avasys http://avasys.jp/eng/linux_driver/ where RPMs for 32-bit and 64-bit architecture (and Debian 32 and 64-bit packages) can be downloaded. Therefore yast2-scanner must be adapted to no longer try to install our iscan-proprietary-drivers, iscan-firmware, and iscan packages (see bug #556097) but instead it must show a meaningful user information when a scanner is to be set up which requires the proprietary Iscan software so that the user can download and install the right packages from Avasys on his own. Question: Why does not YaST download and install the packages from Avasys? Short answer: Because it is proprietary software. Explanatory answer: Before downloading any proprietary stuff I would have to show the right proprietary license dialog so that I would need at least reliable fixed URLs for the right proprietary license texts which must be well separated from the actual proprietary stuff (i.e. only one proprietary package with included license texts would not work for us), see http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/sane-devel/2008-April/021911.html Possible solution: Iscan should do it the same way as HPLIP: Avasys should provide a free software source tar ball which provides all their free Iscan software but not any piece of their prorietary Iscan software. For their prorietary stuff there should be a free "iscan-setup" tool which does all what is necessary regarding proprietary stuff (in particular show the right license text, download the right packages from the right URLs, and install them in the right way on the end-user's system). Then I could also call such a tool from YaST if a model is to be set up which requires proprietary stuff. I already requested this several times but it seems Avasys' software policy is somehow fundamental different...
