Thus the user starts it manually and connects to a network which updates the rc file because of the "LastUsed" field. knetworkmanager.default.sh is run at kde login and checks whether networkmanagementrc is older than /etc/sysconfig/network/config. I guess this is meant to prevent it overwriting manual changes, yet because the rc got updated with the "LastUsed" after the user changed the network settings via YaST, it will not change the "Autostart" to "yes". The easiest solution would be to not care about the date of the rc-file. The reasoning for this would simply be that there are more people that switch to NetworkManager because they want to use knetworkmanagemer than users that switch to NetworkManager but do not want to use it. Expected Results: Manually: Activate new screen saver settings, activate selected screen saver if on pressing the "Test" button. Automatically: correct screen saver activation. With kdeartwork4-screensaver versions smaller than 4.6.2-1.1.i586 (current version installed from 'openSUSE:Tumbleweed/standard' repository) was a problem with activated password protection on screen saver, after password protection activation was impossible to unlock the screen (including KDE4 4.6.0). But this problem was not always reproducible in "official" openSUSE_11.4 and was not reproducible in openSUSE_Tumbleweed/standard (current install, KDE4 4.6.2). Then I installed KDE 4.7.0 by switching the installed KDE software from the 4.6.5 repositories to the new 4.7.0 ones. Installation worked fine and without problems. But after rebooting the system, the Plasma Desktop ran (and still runs)INSANELY slow. It took (and takes) about 15 to 20 minutes to load the Desktop after logging in, and each time several minutes until Icons, applications, and so on are displayed. The desktop (and system) is unusable like that. I even turned of desktop effects and OpelGL and switched back to xrender, without things getting much better. Looks like its only plasma that's affected by this, because applications mostly work fine internally. Today I tried switching back to KDE 4.6.5 (just the same way I did yesterday the other way round) but the problem persists. Any Idea how to solve this problem?? Dolphin always crashes when soft-linking, copying or moving a huge number of files (n x 10^3). For instance, 15 000 files, no matter if the files are tiny (e. g. 1 Mb each one). This issue persists in openSuSE 11.4 M6 just released. The same operations are able to be well done using ln, ln -s, cp, mv. I do not remember whether openSuSE 11.2 has the same issue. Also, Dolphin seldom crashes when opened, or when it is opened into a particular directory. Usually, the KDE bug report wizard opened soon after. From this wizard, I will attach dolphin-20110202.kcrash file. But as I noticed that debug libraries were missing, I installed them. Since then, although this issue persists, the KDE bug report wizard has not never shown again. So, I decided to do: gdb dolphin 2>&1 | tee > /tmp/gdb.[*].log but, although errors are reported, and dolphin does crash, there are no stack to debug. After restarting the computer twice, though, GNOME mysteriously stopped showing any menus. The task manager wasn't present and I couldn't even start a terminal with a right click on the desktop. Luckily I'd had a keyboard shortcut set up to open a terminal and could run applications - even with normal windows. Any shortcuts like Alt+F2 or Alt+F1, etc. didn't work any more. I think the problem might be because of a missing dependency somewhere - YaST had complained about needing libcheese-gtk19 and not being able to find it - but that was the only missing dependency that popped up. In the example above, local_machine is a macbook running OSX 10.6.2 and XQuartz 2.3.4. If I connect to the openSUSE machine with ssh from my neighbor's linux box, then yast does not crash. However, I have no problem running any other X program using the macbook -- it is ONLY yast that crashes. So basically, something seems to be wrong with yast that is exposed by the XQuartz X-server. Expected Results: yast should not crash on startup. Presumably the details above are enough. The latter is based on a raid1 md drive. My root dev resides on the "dflt" vg. For the last couple of weeks, the system failed to boot after the installation of kernel updates via "zypper up". Booting into an openSUSE-11.2 image on the same system and running mkinitrd there resolved the problem. Today I found the reason for the failure: /lib/mkinitrd/setup/31-lvm2.sh fails to recognize that my root dev resides on an md drive, therefore md support is not included in the initrd. This happens because my root dev resides on dev 253:2, and a couple of weeks ago I created my twentieth logical volume. The regexp used to determine the root's underlying volume group matches 253:20 (which is on the "noraid" vg), not 253:2! The attached patch fixes the problem for me.
