My mail client has always been Thunderbird. The issue is: all mail in "sent" or "sent items" of my novell mailbox are gone. I have checked every other folder that appears at Thunderbird UI and didn't find anything. I was at home for one year for parental leave, during which time I didn't access novell mailbox. When I came back to work last week, I need to reset my innerweb account password. With Thunderbird 3b4 when I attempt to search for something in the subject or from field, Thunderbird will hang and run at 100% CPU. When a drop-down dialog appears I am unable to use the X desktop at all. I cannot switch to another application and must either go to a console (i.e. Ctrl+Alt+F1) and kill Thunderbird. Otherwise I must ssh in from another computer to kill Thunderbird. If I wait, Thunderbird will eventually return to where I can use it, but it does not display meaningful results. Search is a very important feature for me and this worked well for Thunderbird 2.0. The fact that it totally hangs my desktop and often requires remote login to kill it is totally unacceptable. I do not know how many emails are in the folder since Thunderbird now supresses that information, but I would guess at least 30,000 emails are in my inbox for at least 1 account. I have 3 imap accounts that are used, so there may be 60-100K emails total, perhaps a lot more. If I limit it to only one of the accounts then it works as it should and returns in a reasonable amount of time. If I am not able to log in remotely it is faster for me to force my computer to completely reboot rather than wait for Thunderbird to allow the desktop to work again. Here the issue may be that the default config tries to create its own hidden directory under the users home directory and either fails to create this directory and or cannot write both directory and file due??? Under normal circumstances the user has no default root authority, however it does not call for escalation and cannot even write itself under the users login directory. The default config would seem to be wasted as there seems no apparent way to change or write to boot config details to read the config file in the first instance. It looks sloppy at best and currently provides nil functionality what-so-ever. Infact on installation, I have no way to change the Video settings, even via config desktop>power management> offers little choice. I cannot change the frequency away from 50Hz or 51Hz and I dont want to run that fast - I really only need 60Hz to achieve perfect 16 million colours at good resolution 1280x1024 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.
