But they do not work together. Upon starting k3b I get this message: Unable to find cdrecord executable K3b uses cdrecord to actually write CDs. Solution: Install the cdrtools package which contains cdrecord. MP3 Audio Decoder plugin not found. K3b could not load or find the MP3 decoder plugin. This means that you will not be able to create Audio CDs from MP3 files. Many Linux distributions do not include MP3 support for legal reasons. Solution: To enable MP3 support, please install the MAD MP3 decoding library as well as the K3b MAD MP3 decoder plugin (the latter may already be installed but not functional due to the missing libmad). Some distributions allow installation of MP3 support via an online update tool. Please either add cdrecord to default distribution or make k3b work with either wodim or cdrecord. Furthermore, a simple 'sudo zypper in cdrecord' fails with this message: $ sudo zypper in cdrecord Retrieving repository 'science' metadata [done] Building repository 'science' cache [done] Loading repository data... It stay there for ca 8 seconds, and disappears whatever I do. I can click it open during these 8 seconds, then it shows me 4 choices, (o) Download Phot... ( ) Download Phot... (_) Copy with K3b [H] Open with File... A scrollbar indicates that there are more choices. Reading and understanding all these choices also counts into the display time. Please offer a way to keep this notification displayed longer. It is not possible to study all the possible choices in this short time. Hovering the mouse over the notificaiton should keep it open. It is never a good idea to steal away the widget that currently has focus. clicking into the Notification could also make the timeout longer. It means that the user showed interest in the Notification. After it is gone, a greyed 'i in a circle' icon remains. It does not react to left or middle clickt, only right click shows standard system try options. After choosing any combination of software patterns I started the setup and when the progress bar was about to reach 100% yast failed. This happenend in 5 attempts using newly created logical volumes and different software pattern combinations. The system is OpenSuse 11.3 RC2 64 Bit on a Intel Core2 6400 with 4 GB RAM. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set up a logical volume and mount it 2. Use yast dirinstall to install a system into that volume 3. Choose any software pattern combination Actual Results: Yast returned following error message when it was about to finish the installation (100% were reached): Calling the YaST module `inst_dirinstall_finish has failed. More information can be found near the end of the '/var/log/YaST2/y2log' file. This is worth reporting a bug at http://bugzilla.novell.com/. That results in fonts appearing 'grainy' [cref: Bug 581715 - font rendering/smoothing breaks (becomes 'grainy') @ FF ver > ~ 3.6.8 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=581715] This raises the question(s) of should a subpixel-enabled cairo/freetype2 be included (a) in upstream FF, (b) as a default option in opensuse FF builds, &/or (c) as a default option in opensuse system. Iiuc, the previous patent encumberbments (Apple?) preventing default inclusion of subpixel support have expired. It seems that Ubuntu may be choosing to include those libs in distro ... In any case, there are technical, user experience, and legal questions wrapped up in this discussion.
