With cat /proc/interrupts one will get: 5: 0 XT-PIC-XT atgpib 7: 78 XT-PIC-XT 8: 0 XT-PIC-XT rtc0 10: 430 XT-PIC-XT ohci_hcd:usb2, ohci_hcd:usb3, ohci1394, EMU10K1, eth0, eth1 Here you can see that the GPIB card is assigned to IRQ5 instead to IRQ 9 and the DAQ card is not assigned at all (maybe as it normally uses the IRQ5) After this experience I deleted the isapnp.conf file but the ISA-PNP card(s) were enabled anyhow with the same (unwanted) settings like before. This behaviour doesn't allow the user to apply the necessary settings to avoid irq and or io conflicts with other hardware as it was possible in the past. In the past means at least prior to opensuse 10.3 and 11.1 as I explored the same behaviour in the mean time also with these distridutions (which wasn't realized before as with these distributions the settings were "by accident" the wanted ones). The system is a 32bit PIII board (GA-6va7+). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. apply an isapnp.conf file in /etc 2. boot the system and compare the settings of isapnp.conf with the real ones 3. When importing a new software repository in YaST, if the GPG-key is unknown to the system, a warning pops up. In English, this warnings says that the key is "untrusted", but this has been translated to the Norwegian equivalent of "untrustworthy" - "upålitelig". This is a major source of confusion for Norwegian users who do not realize this to be a translation error, as it sounds like something bad will happen every time one tries to add a repository. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Use Norwegian localization 2.Open YaST 3.Add software repository (e.g. Packman) Actual Results: Said warning message appears in the incorrect translation. Apparently this was caused by the following change in the build: - [ppc,ppc64] Enable optimized builds for power7; no separate power4, power5 builds are generated anymore, instead default glibc is built for power4 at least, tuned for power5 execution [FATE#307021] Building for power4 by default (ie, passing "--with-cpu=power4") will prevent older processors from working, as explained in the spec file: # But: ppc32 can not default to -mcpu=power4 because it would emit instructions # which are not available on G3, G4 etc. Installing the updated package will make everything that's linked against glibc to hang just before execution. GNU Parted 1.8.8 Apparently our parted is incompatible with our partitions. I haven't used tune2efs before. I attempted to remove has_journal, resizeable_inode, dir_index, and ext_attr features. This failed for ext_attr: tune2fs 1.41.1 (01-Sep-2008) Clearing filesystem feature 'ext_attr' not supported. Using installation, from the 11.1 DVD, I was able to resize the partition with the yast partitioner. It required to assign a different root partition first, which is plausible for an installation workflow latern, but resizing, so that there is room for a new root partition, appears not to be a supported workflow. Related feature request: There is no hint what the user should do. Please add some diagnostics like printing the list of supported/unsupported features. Please add a reference to tune2fs or debugs Example: In http://www.unixboard.de/vb3/showthread.php?t=39141 the error message reads Error: File system has an incompatible feature enabled. Compatible features are has_journal, dir_index, filetype, sparse_super and large_file. Use tune2fs or debugfs to remove features.
