Via normal callouts it's also possible to change the hal properties on the fly without restarting hal. See attached code. Untar in / and rm /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/20thirdparty/11-keymap.fdi The methods could even be combined. Actually I wonder if inserting 'xhost +local:0' line in .bashrc would do the job as well, I may try for fun. I will keep that workaround cuz I am the only user using this machine and I log on directly on the machine with a PW. There are no other user created.
