There is no difference to use YaST2 or edit config file. Magic SysRq keys don't work (PS/2 keyboard). // By the way this bug prevents normal reboot or shutdown 'cause first tty is activated. --- When I've used openSUSE 11.1 (x86, seems not architecture specific) this bug was also present but worked once - only after changing - and then all was right. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Manually edit '/etc/sysconfig/console' config file or open YaST2 '/etc/sysconfig' editor (Hardware-Console) 2. Change CONSOLE_FONT to some non-16px font (i've tested 'ter-c14n.psfu' and Cyr_a8x14.psfu - first need to instal terminus-font package, second is standard) 3. YaST2 '/etc/sysconfig' editor automatically restarts kbd daemon - you may simply switch to tty1 (Ctrl-Alt-F1) and look at frozen system (/etc/sysconfig/console file may be lost after reset due to file system). If file was edited manually you may to reboot system and then switch to tty1 (in this case config wouldn't be lost). Actual Results: When console font height isn't 16 px system is frozen after switch to tty1 Expected Results: tty1 should work as other :) I've tested only 16 and 14 fonts... may be this bug specific only to 14 px with my screen resolution? No problem in text mode. Seems similar to Bug 638200. Had to reformat the boot partition on reinstall and eliminate update 3038 on running the Yast software update. System is a HP Compaq Pentium 4, 3.0 gigahertz with 1.5 gig memory and 75 gig hard drive. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install a fresh system with KDE graphical interface. 2. After logging in, run Yast software update. 3. Include all necessary patches. (will include 3038) 4. After update completes, reboot system. If I choose "default" from the grub boot menu, the boot process would start, run for a very short while, and then the boot process restarts and the grub boot menu appears again, and this cycle can go on forever. If I choose "fail-safe", the boot would complete successfully. After comparing the boot options in the "menu.lst" file, I added the "nomodeset" option to "default" and it would boot successfully. So the problem is solved. Is there a better solution ? Such as changing some BIOS settings. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.(re)boot, wait for the grub boot menu to appear 2.choose the "default" from the menu 3.hit "return" Actual Results: The boot process restarts and the grub boot menu appears again. I have on both the same problem. When the system is working hard, i have often a crash. It is most when i watch a flashplayer-video (IN FULSCREEN!!!). Sometimes by using skype. Sometimes by using yast for installation. One time when i used a beamer with the clonescreen. I downloaded openSUSE more times and made more times a new installation. It is not the medium or a bad installation. It is the Kernel, the X-org, vga-driver the ram management. It is a serious problem of openSUSE 11.3. Updates don't help. openSUSE 11.3 is unusuable on this netbooks. openSUSE 11.2 works great. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Watch long flash videos in fullscreen. 2. or make a lot of things at the same time in Firefoxbrowser 3. or when using yast to install software Actual Results: System crash. Sreen is freezing and you can notihg do any more with the mouse. Sound is freezing (We, we, we, we... => for "weather".
