In X_64 AMD CPU, IF the BIOS feature Cool'N Quiet is DISABLED, which is default, then Neither the Kernel nor any other Software issues of ACPI instructions will be ignored by the CPU/GPU. So as the installation is extremely intensive for a prolonged period of Time, there will be no throttling if CPU/GPU. What makes it worse is IF you have an ASUS Motherboard the BIOS default will dynamically over-clock the CPU/GPU, BUT because all software initialised throttling cannot take place the Video can easily cook itself. I will make a bet you have a separate PCIE Video Card. If the motherboard Video is used the BIOS protection for the whole motherboard will initiate a complete shut-down. So in this case, if the Video GPU is separate, the BIOS will let the GPU cook if the CPU is under shut-down temp. So IF 1. You Motherboard has AMD Cool 'n Quiet default OFF (No ACPI calls permitted) 2. You used a Separate PCI Video Card 3. There is a default over-clocking profile of the motherboard enabled. THEN THE GPU is very likely to cook itself - especially during installation as Installation will use 110% of all resources for a very long continuous time. Please just clarifying is your hardware X_64 or just I386....In other words are you running a 64Bit Processor like an AMD CPU. If your CPU is a 64Bit Processor I can supply the logs and I know why this fails on your PC and Mine. IF the shiped product in 11.3 contains a fixed kde4-ark we can leave this as fixed OR when we have an online update to fix kde4-ark in 11.2 - Other wise the following issue is still apparent. The compression program ARK as shipped cannot CREATE an archive. It can only de-compress an archive and I am talking about ARK in 11.1. So when we can either get ARK to be able to create many different archive formats then this can be closed for a fixed reason. The sheer presence of the ARK Program shipped in 11.1 is not a validate fix argument. So we have 2 choices 1. Put back the functionality that was removed in Konqueror in 10.3 in 11.3 OR Fix the ARK program in 11.0-11.1 via opensuse online update to enable kde4-ark to create many different archive formats.
