The GNU Telephony opensuse build project is intended to support building our packages for use on RPM based GNU/Linux distributions. Our goal is to make it easier to create and deploy telephony services on RPM based distributions, and to make updates available immediately from our upstream source releases. Many of our packages are not commonly packaged or actively maintained in RPM based distributions. Some of our packages are however used by national governments on Debian based distributions, and we have a baseline package set for creating secure intercept-free VoIP services. I have tried i586, x86-64, and the liveCD-Gnome. All hang in normal kernel mode. The LiveCD hangs for about 5 minutes with "udevadm settle timeout" its continues a bit later, but I don't have the message in front of me. The x86-64 installation hangs for about 5 minutes with "starting udev udev-event[9] '/sbin/modprobe' abnormal exit" and then "ok" then "loading basic drivers" After that point it hangs permanently. It hangs if you select Install, Install in Text Mode, Test Firmware, or Test Media. Alt-F4 reports no errors. The last line is "Uniform multi-platform E-IDE Driver" ---------- Workaround: Install selecting Safe-mode Kernel Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Put in 11.1 CD or DVD 2. Boot 3. I then burned the SLES 11 GA DVD with K3B and it worked fine.. and the media check was OK. This has been tested so far with two different machines. Steps to reproduce: 1) Install openSUSE 11.1 on a system with a DVD burner 2) Download SLES 11 GA DVD 1 ISO image 3) Open Nautilus to the location of the DVD ISO 4) right click the DVD and select to burn with Brasero It will Burn completely but the media check fails when trying to use the DVD just burned to do an install. Now, as soon as I install openSUSE, I experience this problem: the file operations dialog will freeze when I try to delete an ISO file, or a few thousand file directory like a source tree. Nothing on the progress bar, ever. If I cancel it, the dialog stays up. This will happen if I delete and then try to empty the trash, or if I shift-del from Nautilus. In the former, the trash icon is empty when I reboot. In the latter, I reboot and find still existing the directory I ordered deleted and a text file in it, but the ISO within is gone. That said, I reinstalled because this partition somehow became full. I can't imagine a legitimate reason for because it's just openSUSE and home (which was 1.7GB).
