The version I have installed is openSSH 5.1p1, open ssl 0.9.8h (latest from the repository) When I start a connection with another machine, it asks for the password, and then it gets stuck. The same happens when trying to connect to the opensuse 11.1 b4. I tried again with ssh -vvv, and the last lines tell debug2:channel 0: request shell confirm 1 debug2: fd 3 setting TCP_NODELAY debug2: callback done debug2: channel 0: open confirm rwindow 0 rmax 32768 The netstat tells there is a ssh connection going on. I try the ssh from other machines and it works. I am trying to compile a client from openssh.org to verify if it is a problem of opensuse. So far, I could not compile with 11.1 because the libopenssl-dev is not available. What I have noticed is that sound played via the speakers is very quiet while I'd expect it to be louder. I have all volumes set to the highest values. But when starting the KSCD application it recognizes the CD indeed and the monitor also indicates that everything is working fine. Bu I do not hear anything, even when the volume display in KSCD shows 100%. Any idea what still might be wrong? I suspend, and resume. Screen is MAX brightness. It can be lowered again by: 1. Pressing brightness ^up and then brightness down (down only will not work) or 2. adjusting slider-bar on powermanagement applet to lowest (desired) setting Waiting a few minutes does NOT make powermanagement applet change brightness automatically. While it is quite likely that I have not configured something properly, even if that IS the case, I feel that the GUI tools are inadequate for setting up the sound system and need to be redesigned to properly guide a user to a solution. Otherwise something really cpis broke and this still needs to be reported as a bug. I am trying to upgrade my media center to SuSE11.1 from 10.3 I have a Creative Labs Audigy Pro 4 sound card that I want to use. The sound did work fine in 10.3 I suspect part of my problem may be due to the fact that I have more than one sound system in my computer, in particular there is a sound chip on the motherboard itself. I have tried to disable the one on the motherboard, both by disabling it in the BIOS, and by blacklisting the module CX88-ALSA. And I have enabled (removed from the blacklist) the module emu10k1 since I saw some error messages in the log file referring to it. I have tried setting up the sound system in YaST, the KDE Control Center, and using ALSACONF. Despite these efforts, there seems to be no adequate guide to a solution either via any of these tools. I also followed the guide on the OpenSuSE website for setting up the sound system and the results of each step are shown below. I have attached the hardware info report from YaST also.
