One is that slowkeys gets enabled not by (users's) intention, possibly already by gdm or later by some GNOME application. Not easy to reproduce. I just switched my sister-in-law from windoze XP to OpenSUSE 11.2 and her Sony SureShot digital Cam wouldn't mount also. Same symptoms as above. Looks like the negotiation for the nfs version is broken in mount.nfs. You now need to add the mount option nfsvers=3 to mount an NFS3 export. This breaks automounting severely here in the office Nürnberg, Germany. Example: # sudo mount langley.suse.de:/users-space /mnt mount.nfs: Operation not permitted # sudo mount -o nfsvers=3 langley.suse.de:/users-space /mnt # <works> It still works with nfs-client of openSUSE 11.2, so I assume the regression came with the update of nfs-utils from release 1.1.3 to 1.2.1, i.e. the following changelogs since 11.2: ------------------------------------------------------------------- Thu Nov 5 03:16:22 UTC 2009 - nfbrown(a)novell.com - New upsteam release - 1.2.1 Includes new config file: /etc/nfsmount.conf and man page. - nfs.init * implement try-restart in a more gentle fashion so that active mounts are not lost. Also allow for the fact that binary has changed when finding and killing running daemons. Appearently grub is not able to handle btrfs partitions. And according to the maintainer this is a new feature for grub and is not planned for 11.2. To facilitate external repositories on system update from DVD I entered the string ZYPP_ARIA2C=0 on bootprompt and the consequence was that this string was put into the files /boot/grub/menu.lst and /etc/sysconfig/bootloader for the new kernel. I created 2x 1.8Mb filesystems in files to mount as floppies in virtualbox 11.2 machines. The ext2 fs in the VM gives only $ mount -t ext2 /dev/fd0 /mnt mount: stale NFS file handle The vfat 'floppy' mounts, the filesystem can be listed but the files (created by mounting the filesystem in the physical machine) are apparently empty. HAL apparently doesn't see either filesystem. Both filesystems work as expected in the physical machine.
