We had customers using xdm before without consolekit before. IMHO we should consider not to handle a non-existing ck-daemon fatal. And improve the error message (add "console-kit-daemon not running?"). Hibernation is always risky, specially when trying a new machine; if it fails, having to fsck everything afterwards is really a pain. Or if suspending to ram, the battery can fail.
