Onboard-sound and a Cypress USB Telephone Receiver is used. Sound installation is default. The USB telephone receiver was not connected during OS installation. The KDE-startup sound, e.g. can be heard by the default loudspeakers _or_ the telephone receiver, it looks like it is random. I did tests with KDE, Gnome and XFCE and there is no difference. The USB-sound is the last in KDE / multimedia. It looks like the system thinks, that onboard sound is used at the moment. Suddenly I had no chance to play audio with Firefox and pulsaudio anymore with the primary soundcard, although it was not used. Before, there was a chance, that music with Firefox_could be played with the loudspeakers. I don't know, if it is a related to an update. With mplayer or vlc the chance was better, that the primary soundcard was used. After I removed pulseaudio and use esound, all problems are gone. I had the problem with openSUSE 11.2 too. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Use an USB telephone receiver with a bulit-in soundcard as 2nd soundcard. Heading: instead of "Accept End User Licence Agreement - SLES-11" we should use a non-technical language such as "License Terms" 2. So the suggestion would be: "Show license terms in |English v| 3. Especially in the fluid simulator OpenMP brings massive performance improvements. I could compile without problems with OpenSuse 11.1 (gcc 4.3.2) but now not anymore with OpenSuse 11.2 (gcc 4.4.1). This problem was already reported at http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/14766 with gcc 4.4.0. But the mentioned "solution" (don't use OpenMP) is not usable. I'm doing lots of fluid animations and my Core i7 needs OpenMP do do them fast. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Get blender 2.5 alpha source code via svn from svn checkout https://svn.blender.org/svnroot/bf-blender/trunk/blender 2.Activate cmake option "WITH_OPENMP=ON". 3.Compile with cmake. The VG isn't using the whole HD, but that seems to be a "feature", as alvin told in <https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=550879>. So i let that thing do its astounding things and poked around in KDE4. After that, i of course wanted to make use of the whole disc, and decided to re-install from scratch. So i advised the installer (booted from LiveCD) to use sdc as a whole, and... After clicking "install", it took a while, bevore the installer stuttered something like "swap is in use, couldn't reorganize hd". I removed the sdc2 partition ("system" VG) using fdisc, and, same procedure, a few hours later, the installer told me, that it can't make use the "root" volume... Well then, back to the rough methods. I blanked tha disc (dd if=zero of=sdc) a few MBs, and then installation went flawlessly. Don't imagine how a dd-unaware penguin newbie should deal with this... Users with locked accounts (those with '!' ??) cannot be su'd to. As root, some users can be su'd to: (regular users), ftp, etc... Not postgres. Eventually I tracked the difference down to postgres being considered 'locked' - and that the passwd/shadow entry for those users is '!' instead of '*'. I determined this by turning up PAM debugging for pam_unix2 Why is the behavior different in 11.2 versus 11.1? This prevented the postgresql upgrade from working properly. I had to perform the following steps, once I had an idea that it was a locked account problem: 1. pwunconv 2. vipw and change the password for 'postgres' to '*' instead of '!' - the latter indicates that the account is locked. 3. *now* I can start postgres and such. Currently, there are two options to make a package build: - Add %{_datadir}/locale/en@shaw %{_datadir}/locale/en@shaw/LC_MESSAGES to the files section or rm the folders in the install section.
