But pppd did successful connection. I could ping some hosts in the internet, and the modem LED indicates the connection too. utmsmon reports also that /dev/ttyUSB0 is busy. But network manager is disabled. Huch? The local is running the 64-bit version of the same on AMD hardware using KRDC. Both systems have KDE 3.5 When I VNC into the remote system I can see the same green login screen as I see on the system as if you were physically on it, but the mouse pointer does not work. Please note the systematic error. We can see the same effect on an other board with 64bit OS11.0. In contrast on a 32bit computer this problem was not reproduceable. We have compared the output of * stty -a -F /dev/ttyS0 * setserial -a /dev/ttyS0 to make sure they are the same We have changed the uC including board etc. The effect is clearly related to the 64Bit Version. It does not happen everytime around 1 of 4 connections fail. Ark doesn't give any error message. Size of truncated file is variable. I've tested with many different rar files, from 800 MB to 1 GB, and I always obtain a truncated file. This happens every time, so I am stuck with the traditional desktop view. My system is Opensuse 11.1, with the standard KDE install, and which was upgraded from 11.0 using the dvd installation method.
