I would strongly suggest you drop it from the openSuse Distro in KDE4 openSuse V11.x. I am certain sourceforge has a better resourced and developed CD/DVD Module in its default place. KB3 Currently is on my screen as attached and at this stage in its development it would appear that it may never progress. Discussion Please. Please do not refer me to KDE Bugs - There have been far too may written about KB3 and its still flaky after 2+ or more years. There is also a problem with saved parameters for the "ALSA Mixer". Original Problem: When I first installed OpenSuSE 11.0 from the LiveCD the sound was working but was too loud. I clicked on the speaker icon ("Volume Applet 2.22.1") on the bottom bar and adjusted it to a good level and closed it. When I rebooted, it was completely muted with a red "x". I tried to un-mute it but nothing worked. There were other problems, so I left it that way for a few days. Repair Attempts: Eventually, on the "Volume Applet" I tried the "Open Volume Control" and it called up the "Pulse Audio" mixer. I tried to adjust this and could not get any sound working. I do not remember the defaults, but I left it with everything pointing at "Alsa". I also set the "Volume Applet" to "Alsa Mixer" and "Master". I could not find the "Alsa Mixer". It is called "Volume" which made me think it was just another icon to call the "Volume Applet". After many hours of trying to get it to work, I suspected a problem with "Pulse Audio", so I decided to remove "Pulse Audio" and re-load "Alsa" by itself. Using YaST2 "Software Management" I searched for "Pulse" and removed a lot of it and re-booted the computer. The "Volume Applet" could not launch the "Pulse Audio" mixer (which I had removed), and thus did nothing. Looking at the menus, I finally tried the "Volume" control and found that it was the "Alsa Mixer". I was then able to "un-mute" everything and get the sound working. Remaining Problems: Settings I make using the "Alsa Mixer" are not retained from session to session, so I have to manually un-mute and readjust the volume each time I start a session. Note: I do not know if there are any problems with "Pulse Audio" It is possible that there was nothing wrong with it in the first place. On the other hand, I have decided that for now, I will not re-load any of the components I have removed since sound is now working adequately. Request for Changes: The current interface is too confusing. If the "Volume Applet" is setting the "Alsa Mixer/Master", which is what I set it to do, there should be a way to launch the "Alsa Mixer" from that Applet, though if the selection of the "Alsa Mixer" is through the "Pulse Mixer" then that should also be launchable from the "Volume Applet". I received several appointments from an other groupwise account and could not see the vcard attachment when I opened the message. It turns our the other groupwise user had changed his acccount default to send HTML mail. The collection is >350GB and is all on a RAID1 array, in various directories. Using desktop KDE 3.5.9, if that matters, and using SQLite database. Only took a few hours on 10.3. Bug 378658 may be related, but I've yet to build my first database, so I don't know if it's going to the forget it. It would be wonderful if we could have a command line option on only run certain parts of the supportconfig program. I would suggest something like -o for "only". Then use the same titles you use in the supportconfig.conf file. Example to run only novell cluster services script only. supportconfig -o NCS Also have it so it can do several supportconfig -o NCS BOOT EVMS I know we can do this all via editing the supportconfig.conf file but having it this way would make it easier to tell customer and then I could script it without having them change their default conf file. One way to do it is unpack tarball created by /sbin/supportconfig, remove selected files and pack it again. But I prefer to let this functionality into your script. I created patch against 2.19-66 version with -i and -o parameters. What do you think about this?
