It still used the old style IDE names (hda, hdc, etc.) for the IDE drives, and sdX for SATA. /dev/hda was my IDE drive, /dev/sda my SATA driver (/dev/hdc and /dev/hdd my two DVD units). The partitioner complained about not be able to mount the vfat partitions on sdaX (that would be the old hdaX) and the ext3 on sdbX (that would be the old sdaX). When I gave the partition type it seemed to accept though. [ it's quite useful ;-]. b) why - when it's not installed, does NetworkManager not tell me about that. c) why does NetworkManager not offer to help me install it via.
