I have no network connection and I tried to install a package. When I typed software search yast showed that a repo was not available (in fact I have no network connection and the repo for the update wasn't available). I typed skip and then I tryed to install the package (the repo of this package is the one for the updates) and yast showed that the package itself could no be installed. But when I reloaded the software search again I saw the package be installed (I had the flag checked). Through command line I tried to search the package (via rpm tool) but the package wasn't installed. So the question are? 1) why yast showed the package installed 2) why yast showed to me the package to install when the repo wasn't available (is it possible it couldn't be refreshed correctly?) P.S. The wiki fails this goal in several ways: a) the search engine never returns software packages. http://en.opensuse.org/Wishlist_Productivity is found, but there is no positive list. b) The link "download" in the left sidebar, points to Novell's openSUSE releases only. http://software.opensuse.org/download/ is not mentioned there. c) The link "build service" points to http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service This details the internals of the buildservice, but has no hint, where software built with the build service might be. I strongly suggest to consider the following improvements: I) The results page of the search engine should list http://software.opensuse.org next to 'For more information about searching openSUSE, see Searching openSUSE.' II) http://software.opensuse.org/ should have its own search engine (available without login) if searching the software repositories cannot be integrated in the wiki search engine. Not, there is another problem: At shutdown, rcxendomains script saves the state of the virtual machines. Then I added the 'Factory' repo and did an udate of 'everything' from that repo. Later I tried to add Packman repo and I kept getting 'Signal 11' from Yast. I then went to CLI and tried to use zypper. It "said" it was refreshing everything but when I attempted to add Packman, it neither added it nor did it report an error. I then went into /var and deleted the cache and rebuilt it but still, neither yast nor zypper would add Packman. So, I went to /etc and deleted everything related to the source locations and of course, both Yast and zypper refreshed to empty, as expected. Then I tried to add repos back again, and none of them would come back. SO, I went to SMART and regressed to an older version (the one on the Alpha 0 CD) and voila, suddenly, both Yast2 and zypper again knew how to add repos. So, whatever version of Xypper is in the FACTORY repo as of Monday night 10 Dec, has a problem and regressing to the CD version fixed it for me. NO LOGS available as another bug forced me to reinstall.
