The recent online distribution in 4 New updates updated YAST2 online update. YAST updates and displayed YAST will close and restart after that process ZMD still indicates the are updates, however there cannot be installed by On-line update. Current display indicates updates are available, however this new version of YAST online update goes black when ZMD indicates updates are required. We have to get On-line update finally fixed be have has the following versions as We need either to roll-back current version of YOU or correct it again. Please do not release v 10.2 until YOU is finally fixed and will not cause errors as without it this functioning correctly we can can fit nothing. This problem may well have been resolved or rolled-back as of today? Quote Resolving Dependencies... ERROR: Resolvable tar 2343-0 (http://ftp.isu.edu.tw/pub/Linux/SuSE/update/10.1) not found. Unquote It is more interesting to note that ZMD appears NOT to use the mirror as defined in the update source but always uses the above URL - I find this very very strange as whilst the above URL may have an update the mirror which online updates uses may not yet have the update file yet. This is severe limitation bound to cause problems as you may, on the advise of ZEN to perform an online update and your mirror may not have the files yet. This could lead to a whole host of further problems. I can find NO reason why ZEN should not follow the same online update source whether it be HTTP FTP no NFS. This is dangerous as well. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=241611 Summary: incorrect snmptrapd initscript Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening(a)forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rich(a)hq.vsaa.lv QAContact: qa(a)suse.de actually, a sles 10 problem. snmptrapd init script, located in /usr/share/doc/packages/net-snmp, has slightly incorrect snmptrapd start command : startproc $SNMPTRAPD -c /etc/snmptrapd.conf -Lf /var/log/net-snmpd.log there are two problems with this : 1. config file actually resides in /etc/snmp/ 2. if the config file path is correct, this leads to another problem - the file is read twice, because snmptrapd by default reads the configuration file and it can read several files (and it can read the same file twice). this leads to, for example, scripts being executed twice and so on. there are two simple solutions (unless snmptrapd behaviour is modified) : a) add -C switch; b) remove "-c /etc/snmptrapd.conf" note that file header says : # Copyright (c) 1996-2002 SuSE GmbH Nuernberg, Germany. Mounting a volume with a long name with spaces, commas and non-ASCII characters goes OK. If I want to unmount, I press eject button. After a moment, pop up appears "Cannot eject volume '...'" error. Pressing it again, device unmounts and medium is ejected, but /media/.hal-mtab still keeps the name and mount directory in /media is not removed. If you do it more times, number of orphan directories and items in /media/.hal-mtab raises. The problem is 100% reproducible. You can configure the number of visible lines of that window, but that does not seem to have any effect on that minimal size: The setting gets ignored. See also the attached screen shot. This is very annoying since that window consumes pretty much screen space that way, and you can't reduce that amount of screen space. Worse, if you have a setup like in my screen shot, it's very hard to tell if there were any new messages in the current channel whenever you emptied the channel (Ctrl-L). (Yes, I know Ctrl-R, but sometimes it can be very annoying to have leftover text there all the time - it's much easier to spot anything new if the window is empty by default). But if I hibernate my laptop and then restart it the brightness if set to be full and I can not change it neither using fn+F6 and fn+f7 nor using the powersave applet. I use also the ial package on my system.
