Every default install fit onto the 2.9GB root partition. But with 10.3a3, a default install takes around 3GB. That directory is full of old and hence useless thumbnails which build up to 350 MB of data. I do not use to hover pictures very often, neither do I use the icon-view in any of my folders, so for people who do this might even be a lot more of data garbage. I am not sure what the reason for keeping thumbnails of pictures I open/preview once and never again is, yet since this seems to be an unlimited problem, i.e. until there is no space left it seems like a grave bug to me, since having 0 bytes left in ~ can lead to data loss, if the user is unlucky. Expected behaviour: Set a strict limit to that dir, clean up old/unneeded thumbnails, disable that feature by default unless learns to behave. These pick and choose options made it very easy for a novice to configure network settings when following written instructions for the gui \ end user space. not that I even know what it means. If ound this very useful since both, favourites as well as history are shortcuts to the applications I use most often and hence should have the shortes way. Only if the application cannot be found in those two tabs, the user had to take the long way to the applications-tab. In build-service's KDE packages as well as 10.3 alpha the application-tab took the place of the history-tab. There are users who like this more than the original order, so it would be useful to make the order of the tabs more flexible. This can be done in a way that does not need any GUI and is consistent with kicker itself. If the user wants to re-arrange items on kicker itself, one can click on them with the middle mouse-button and move them. I moved my openSUSE 10.2 installation to the SATA disk, and all is fine except for this. The graphical menu has three problems: -The default selection with timeout does not work. The menu does not hang completely (I can make a selection and boot), but it never boots automatically. -The animated parts get stuck almost immediately. -If I press ESC to drop to text mode, there is a message dialog, and when that is dismissed, it just hangs. When the gfxmenu is disabled entirely, text mode properly boots the default selection with timeout, and the other two problems are irrelevant. So obviously that is a usable workaround. I tried re-installing grub, both by the command line and by YaST, neither helped. Moreover, the behavior exhibited by the 10.2 DVD is even worse. IIRC, it is completely unusable.
