Hence we record the commands to install grub in /etc/grub.conf for reliable reproducibility. "grub --batch < /etc/grub.install" is the preferred method to install / update the boot loader. Note2: /boot/grub/stage2 will be modified in the process, as you found already. That's why we work on a copy, the original is in /usr/lib/grub. Partition proposal looked ok, /boot is /dev/hda7 Did a minimal, text-only install. install went ok until reboot into the system: /boot could not be mounted bug /dev/evms/hda7 instead. dmsetup remove hda7 did not work either, dmsetup ls did _not_ show hda7 as being used. I Added again installer-removed lines CRT2VRefres and CRT2HSync to get video projector compatible syncs out. If i even as for test attach second monitor (or video projector) to external VGA output, computer boots immediatelly. Sometimes just goes to boot screen, in other situations it just gets screen meshed in blinking text state. There is no serial port in T41 so i can't get kernel panic logs. Also trying monitor logs from network connected terminal does not work because situation is immediate kernel crash.
