As a workaround, I implemented a "dock request" on Fn+F11 (thanks to seife for the initial idea). But that's only a workaround. The generic dock driver gets the dock event and writes a message to syslog. This just proves that it's a bug in ibm_acpi IMHO. The result was that the dbus daemon has been enabled in the wrong runlevels and I always got a kde error dialog saying "dbusd is not running, you might want to start dbusd" (or similar) I tried to set up the default setting of another Suse 10.1 system but IT IS NOT POSSIBLE to set up the EXACT default runlevel settings. But ksmserver should use PolicyKit and HAL to do this in future. I will attach a new ksmserver-suspend.diff which uses liblazy to check PolicyKit if the user is allowed to suspend the system and which uses HAL to actually trigger the suspend. I also attached a diff of the specfile because I had to add additional patch for SUSE Linux versions > 10.1. I tried to build it on my own, but kdebase3 fails in mbuild, although I don't think my changes are related to this failure (mbuild job is lodown-hmacht-206). Maybe one could integrate this? Please let me now when this is finished because the missing conversion prevents me from submitting a new powersaved which doens't contain a powersave_hal and powersave_dbus library anymore. Please add %post libs %run_ldconfig and %postun libs %run_ldconfig to the spec file. As our power management architecture now depends on PolicyKit, it is not possible to use tools like 'powersave' after D-Bus restarts (e.g. D-Bus updates). I took a short look to see how we could fix the issue. The GLib D-Bus bindings seem not to be prepared for such a scenario (the "Disconnect" is not being passed to applications which want to receive the signal). Note that the indirect dependency dbus-1-python -> libxml2-python -> python is not sufficient: libxml2-python in Factory is already built for Python 2.5, but dbus-1-python is still Python 2.4. While trying to find out why sound did not work, I found out that the OSS module opl3sa2 gets autoloaded and prevents the ALSA module snd-opl3sa2 from working. (Thanks to Takashi for the help at the Labs conference.) Adding opl3sa2 to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist (sysconfig.rpm) has fixed it.
