I have also downloaded the firmware for the card, and it is loaded. But if I set network (in yast configuration) to use ifup I can see that the config script for the interface is not found. I then made a symlink called for instance ifcfg-eth2 to /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan...... , and then the network script successfully executes the script. I can see (using iwevent) that the nic issues an associate request to the wireless router which is accepted, but dhcp does not work on the wireless interface. If I try to set route and ip manually for the interface I still don't get a connection. The wired ethernet port connects to the same router with no problems. Note: I am not using knetworkmanager because I saw a bug report stating that there was a problem with knetworkmanager and prism54. Also when I did try using knetworkmanager I coule see that the nic never associated eith the router. You issue a "rug ref". it says "waking up zmd", causing it to refresh all sources. then it refreshes all sources again, because you told it so. because it takes the better part of one hour, you run it in a screen session, so you detach and get something else done. when you attach to your screen to do "rug lu", zmd is asleep again, so you detach again (see above). when you attach again to do "rug up", zmd is asleep again. However after a successful YaST Online Update, the zen updater still tells me about six available updates, and that state is preserved even after hours and after a reboot. E.g. The problem occurs when starting the test from within a vncserver (Tightvnc-1.2.9-199) as well as at the graphical console. There's no problem, when using a remote X-Server (Hummingbird Exceed 10.0) and this problem does not occur with the 32Bit Version of the xorg-x11 used remotely on a 32Bit Linux box. Yast called for DISTRO disks 1 and 2 all o.k and YAST auto downloaded a language file for Open Office as Open Office is set to Language = System Default. The download was successful on 1 other PC where the exact same change was made, however it timed out and failed due error response "failed integrity error" - see attached. On both occasions the same mirror is being used for source. Attached files are YAST log files and screen shot showing error response. I did try to "re-try" many many many times. I dont understand why the comms would deliver a file that was not intact due to inbuilt integrity checks which comms performs all the time. Sorry about this one. I thought you had all the updates problems now fixed as YOU is just great now by itself. After burning the first CD, it was automounted while re-inserting it for the verify run. This changed with the third (IIRC) and all following CDs - they were _not_ automounted when re-inserting them for the verify run. I also could not manually mount any CD while k3b was still running (but not doing anything). After closing K3b, mounting CDs works again - I'm not sure if this is caused by closing K3b or something else. I assign this to the kernel maintainers because /var/log/messages looks like there are some kernel problems. After choosing these kernel modules in YaST, the TV-tuner in YaST still doesn't find any channels - Kaffeine though doesn't have a problem finding them. The card is also sold as HAMA DVB-T PCI. However the /etc/syconfig/network/ifcfg-dsl* PPPD_OPTIONS='' parameter is blank allowing for the idle 600 parameter in /etc/ppp/options to be the default causing the connection to drop after 10 minutes. This should be commented in the default ppp/options file or the IDLETIME parameter of the provider should pass 'idle 0' to pppd. As desktop I use KDE. When I connect an USB storage device (USB stick) to the computer, it is not automounted by the system. I've tried this with several USB storage devices including: USB stick from CF Memory 1GB - no automount (/media/? not created) - /dev/sdf1 created - can be mounted by root (sudo mount /dev/sdf1 /mnt/tmp) BenqSiemens mobile as USB storage - no automount (/media/? not created) - /dev/sdd1 created - can be mounted by root (sudo mount /dev/sdd1 /mnt/tmp Sony Ericsson mobile as USB storage - no automount (/media/? not created) - /dev/sd?1 not created - cannot be mounted as root - dmesg shows device connected but filesystem not recognized (filesystem is vfat!) Curious is that if I connect the USB stick before booting it is automounted, but when I click the USB_stick icon on the desktop I receive the error message device is already mounted. In other words I cannot access the files by using this icon.
