Sometimes the bubble of kicker is first and than kickoff will replace it. In particular the buttons on inactive frames are much too dark (black in essence, they should be much lighter). Also the active title bar doesn't look as round as in the old style, instead it's mostly flat now. Perhaps that's as designed, I'm okay with that, but I mention it anyway in case it was only tried with one color scheme and is supposed to look different. That's not really pretty, especially as it isn't scaled to use the full width of the kicker panel. But when opening the menu and moving the mouse quickly diagonally to the left, the icon flips back to the horizontal position with the chameleon looking right (and the head truncated) and this actually looks broken. I type the name of a file that I know is in my home directory, named 'timetable'. The file comes up, and it appears selected. Now, if I want to open this item, there's practically no way of doing so with the keyboard. I have to pick up the mouse again, and then go to the item. Furthermore, if I actually want to go to the second or third item, I still can't hit down-arrow to get to it. I notice the problem, of course. The search works both as an application-launcher (like alt+f2) and as a kerry-beagle search. The former necessitates that previous commands are shown, and the latter necessitates that you can go through the items; both of which use the arrows. What is counter-intuitive mainly, however, is that the item is selected automatically in the search results. This implies that 'Enter' would open it, and yet that's not the case. 'Enter' executes the command 'timetable'. One of them has to be scrapped (as TAB is taken too), and really I don't think it would be nearly as bad if the up-down history for the application-launcher part was scrapped. Particularly because you still have the light-grey auto-complete text that could still work and be handy. So, to sum up, a search result should never really be highlighted automatically (since that implies that 'Enter' executes it, and you never know whether the user wants to execute the command or not), and the up-down buttons for previous application-execution history should be scrapped, so that it can be used in search results. I've gone on a bit now, so I apologise for that, but if there's anything else I'll be happy to clarify any part of what I mean. The error message says (sorry, in German): "Liste der Drucker lässt sich nicht übertragen. Fehlermeldung des Verwaltungsprogramms: Verbindung zu CUPS-Server fehlgeschlagen. Überprüfen Sie, ob der CUPS-Server korrekt installiert wurde und aktiv ist. Fehler: Rechner ist nicht auffindbar." Any other program connecting directly to CUPS (Acroread, OpenOffice) has no such problems. The printer is also displayed correctly (and working) in YaST. "http://localhost:631" also works. None of the released Zope versions, including the zope-2.9.4 are compatible with the new python and according to the mailing lists it may be at least half a year before Zope (2 or 3) will run on python 2.5: http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope3-dev/2006-September/020586.html One can clearly see, that it's not only a theoretical "not well tested so not supported" when trying to start the included Zope on 10.2beta2. It crashes right away, so it's pretty useless. The only way to allow one to use Zope on openSUSE 10.2 seems to be to include a current python 2.4 version as well, at least as part of the Zope package (since Zope allows to use a "private" python version). So yast wanted to install more packages for it (starting with OpenEXR). A popup for OpenEXR came up. But at that time the install server was down so in an error popup I chose Skip. The error popup was closed but the progress popup with OpenEXR was not closed. (I have looked at the code and it was the popup opened in PackageCallbacks::StartProvide) The rest of the installation was useless because it expected some widgets in that small popup. I killed y2base *sniff*. It seems the UI code expects that for any StartProvide there will come a DoneProvide but this was not the case here.
