Hi Nath! I've got new informations refering to your brailledisplay. To switch to Handytech protocol make the following steps: After switching on the brailledisplay you cann see the version of the firmware. With the pushbuttons on both sides of your brailledisplay you can enter the menu, by pressing either the upper or the lower button. Jump into the menu ^OProt^O (Vario 40) or ^OBaum Protocol^O (Vario 80). Press now a routingbutton after the field pb1 oder pb2 (Vario 40) or power braille (Vario 80). Now the protocol is saved and you should be able to work with SBL. Please tell us, if your brailledisplay is automaticly detected (you should be able to navigate through the screen with the lineup or the linedown buttons). Switch manualy to profile 2 useing the keycombination, that I mailed your a view messages ago. Sorry, that my answer took a little time, but Baum wasn't really fast in answering my questions and we havn't tested Varios yet. Best regards, Schoeppi On Mon, 22 Jan 2001, Nath wrote:

Hi Marco,
Thanks a lot for your response. But the problem is always here. In my previous message I told that I know how to switch to profile 2 but I think I've not undertstand what is the profile 2. I thoght it was the emulation mode on my Vario but it seems to be something to load when you start the PC with the cdrom. Then what may I do when I start the PC to switch to profile 2 and which cdrom may I use to begin the process (1 or 2) ?
If you want SBL to work with an application, you need to create a profile. So SBL cann follow the cursor and the relevant things are displayed highlighted, etc. SBL is adjusted for an application and this adjustments are stored in a profile. For most applications you dont't need profiles, SBL works fine in most situations and there are ready profiles in the package too. If SBL is running, the screenreader recognices the active application and loads the needed profile automaticly, but during installation this mecanissem dowsn't work and the adjustments for yast2 are not loaded. For that reason you have to switch manualy to profile2, because thats the profile with the adjustments for this application.
Best regards, Schoeppi
