Thanks for your work. I got a few suggestions concerning the marketing material: - Please don't use the noice effect, as it cannot be printed very well. It should be limited to screen design - I would suggest to use a green background for banners and print media, like: http://marcusmoeller.ch/share/oS/12_3/grow_header.png You could also use the modified background from DuBois and remove the noice (if he could offer the svg source). I don't think we need to get too technically detailed on the jacket. 99% of the time, these DVDs are given out by an Ambassaor at an event, in a booth, or one-on-one. They are not an off-the-shelf product where you walk into a store and see the DVD and try to read for more information what openSUSE is. Because someone from the community will be handing you the DVD, it will almost always come with a verbal description of what the DVD is. Not focusing too much on technical details allows us to have more room for creative details on the DVD jacket, plus the less said on the DVD, the more the Ambassador has to say verbally, and that's a good thing because it causes the Ambassador and individual to be engaged with each other. When you engage, you have a higher chance for that individual to adopt the DVD or at least try it. We can always put in a link on the jacket to a page to learn more about the technical details. They can read it in their own leisurely pace in greater detail than anything we could possibly fit onto the jacket. Thank you, that is appreciated. Some feedback on the DVD: There is some text we NEED on the back, including the standard "promotional CD, not for sale" text, but I think that and other boring info could be written very small. I would also suggest to have some info about what openSUSE 12.3 offers and all that. But I think we can work on the text once the design itself is done. Overall, I like the look, good work!

The PromoDVD will not ship with a label for the disc because they are double-sided. One side is 32-bit and the other is 64-bit. However, it is good to have a label here for people to download if they wish to burn media and distribute it themselves instead of getting PromoDVDs to distribute. In that case, the colors should be low-cost printer friendly. If someone is printing 20 labels, that's a lot of ink with what you have now. It will become very costly very quick for them. (Replacing many ink cartidges.) I suggest the labels do not use any background. Also, the colors of the foreground imagery should be friendly to a white background since most labels are white paper-based. Good contrast agains the white paper will be a good move. There is a very small label close to the hole. It currently says e.g. 'openSUSE® 12.2 64bit". It's in the gitorious repo in art/CD-sleeve/12.2/DVD. Those files are unfortunately also in .ai format. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.de/ SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org

Is this meant to replace the promo DVD sleeve design or is it intended for community people that print this on paper themselves? If for the former it probably needs to include the copyright disclaimer, cutmarks etc. See art/CD-sleeve/12.2. Also, people have suggested that it might help at customs if the sleeve said that the contained software is promotional material, not for sale. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.de/ SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org
