Hello again I have received comments recently of my performance as a team coordinator. It may seem that some think that this performance is not up to the standards of the community and have asked repeatedly for it to change. Unfortunately, I have not had the time to address these concerns or even know about them first hand. I have experienced a lot on the team and I love it. Surely there are better methods of handling the work to be done for the next release and things that can happen beyond that. For this reason, I think it better to have me step aside on this role and have a contributor with more experience in community matters be the go-to person for the team. My contributing to the team will remain unaffected. I will still create images, push for changes and support whoever the team chooses to take on this responsibility. It is better for the team to have someone who has the eye for good communication take on this responsibility and I will learn it along the way. If no one is willing to take on this coordinator call, I can still participate as such, but I would ask to please voice your concerns to me about the work being done. It is hard to find out that communication that involves my performance is done without me knowing. This only amounts to negativity that can be fixed if only there was more "communication" between the parts that disagree. I am always open to converse and decide. From my chair I can say that I just started getting involved with the community at the same time someone (I don't remember who) suggested some form of a organizer or leader so that there was one person who could coordinate efforts to be accomplished by the Artwork team. I nominated you because in the short time I was involved I noticed that you seem very knowledgeable of requirements, current practices, past community experiences and many connections between areas or (networks). Combined, these make for the necessary ingredients for an effective leader. Based on this understanding, I still stand by my decision and have total confidence that you have the capability to be an effective leader.
One ingredient that may be missing is your own desire to take on this role and to be effective in it. I remember you stating that you didn't really want to but would if no one else was willing and things turned out as such. I remember you stating that you just want to help as best as you can and I don't think anyone has any doubts that you help the Artwork team and community a lot. So the question is truly if this is something you want to do? If you don't want to do it then we as a community will have to make other arrangements because if you are doing it only because no one else stepped forward then you are not truly ready to make the commitment to step away from doing so much production and step into organization. It's a big transition for someone to go through. There will always be people who will question your capability or the manner in which organize your team. Being a leader or organizer sometimes requires people to become "thick skinned" to these types of negativity. Negative feedback will come with anything we do though, such as some people may not like my artwork while some people will. Some people will not like the way you organize your team while some people will. If you apply yourself and do your best I believe you have the capability to do well, it may take some falling down now and again but just dust yourself off and get back up. No one would expect you to have all the answers either, that is a ridiculous notion for anyone to put in your head. Use your resources to contrive the best solution for any given problem. Every president of any country has entire cabinets of people who offer advice and information so they can make an educated good decision for the direction of their country and the same goes for you and pulling from resources to provide direction to the openSUSE Artwork team. Again though, it is all dependent on your desire to want to take on the responsibility. You had my nomination in the beginning and you still have my vote to continue if you choose to. If you do choose to step aside and someone else has the desire to take on this role then I will support them just as I do you. Overall, I hope you decide to carry on, if not, then it is completely understandable. Scott DuBois (roguehorse) On Wed, Oct 10, 2012 at 9:04 AM, Andres Silva <anditosan1000@gmail.com> wrote:

Scott nicely summarized situation. If you feel that being coordinator is taking time from stuff that you like more to do, then we have to look for another person, but if criticism is all that bothers you then forget idea to step down. Criticism from people frustrated because some plans are falling short of (unrealistic) expectations is not valid. If someone needs artwork on time, then there is a solution, hire a guy that will have 8 hours a day for that, and then when job is not done you have all rights to vent out frustration. Whole team is small and we have daily duties that keeps us offline most of the day. Some have multiple interests and artwork is sharing time with them. You can't do anything about that and it will not change with someone else as coordinator. Talk to Kenneth, ask him for advice, he is the guy with experience, and in short time with art team he was very helpful. -- Regards, Rajko. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org
