Hello Andi, Sorry for the top post. Also can you please post it to artwork list (I'm not registered). I'm not sure if someone replied this. I have an idea but I'm not sure if it's duable. Why don't we try to make new font? I saw the video of Jobs saying about he took classes about typography etc. So MacOSX has the most beautiful look and feel. Also Ubuntu made a font and there was a noise about it. I don't know how easy it is. A new font every 8 months? Or a new openSUSE font for 12.2? Just think about it. Thanks Stathis Στις 19/03/2012 06:24 μμ, ο/η andi robert έγραψε:

" A new font every 8 months" is unfortunately impossible. Developing a fully utf8 compatible font is a very difficult and expensive procedure. I don't think we as an Open Source organisation can afford it. Unlike a still image, or even a vector one which can be easily and conveniently made with GIMP, fonts can only be made with specialised fond tools. There is only one of those available under Linux atm, and while it's quite good, it's also quite unstable. On top of that developing a good digital font requires a lot of knowledge and experience. Font has to "know" how to scale, how to get "bold" and "condensed", and have an "italic" version, which rarely is made from the same font, but rather is a totally new one altogether. Currently I'm unaware of a single font developer who would do something like an open font for free.... If you find one, please let us know right away ;) Best Regards, Eugene Trounev [it-s] On Sun, Mar 25, 2012 at 4:26 PM, Stathis Iosifidis (aka diamond_gr) <iefstathios@gmail.com> wrote:

I just rediscover this thread. No real submission were made, and I send the artwork for 12.2 Sunday, Coolo pick it, and the sr is now pending. So basically, we will have same splashscreens as in 12.1 with the new background. If changes are needed, here how to make it easier to handle, especially as factory will be entering in its freezing feature period. Find the splashscreen which contain a trouble. The same file exist in -art gitorious repository, clone it, make a fix in 12.2 submit a merge request against -art so -art maintainers can review it and merge it back. containing the bnc number you open for the occasion identify the file and the package open a bug in bugzilla againt openSUSE-branding developed at Base:System then identify the splash screen and say that a merge request against -art will exist for that bug. It sounds like this contest won't make it for this release. That is fine. I think we can keep it up and give it more fire when 12.3 comes out. I am sure that we can do something stronger and better for that release. Andy On Mon, May 7, 2012 at 5:48 AM, Bruno Friedmann <bruno@ioda-net.ch> wrote:
