Well, there are descriptions of people putting ubuntu on it, so you can replace android by garbage. http://minixforums.com/threads/linux-on-minix-x5.1388/ So presumably one could also install something decent on it. ============================================================== From: Henri Gomez [mailto:henri.gomez@gmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, May 07, 2013 12:05 PM To: Witvliet, J, CDC/IV/DCOPS/I&S/HIN Cc: openSUSE ARM ML Subject: Re: [opensuse-arm] Neo X5 Interesting device but could Android be replaced by Linux ? 2013/5/7 <J.Witvliet@mindef.nl> Hi, Anybody around who had a look at: http://www.minix.us/products/NEO-X5.html dual 1.6Ghz A9, around 100 euro ______________________________________________________________________ Dit bericht kan informatie bevatten die niet voor u is bestemd. Hi J,
Interesting device but could Android be replaced by Linux ?
It looks feasibly, although not outright easy. It seems it is a MK808 based device, so it could be easily enabled via my sunxi devel project, which has device tree's available for mk802 at least (I would hope that mk808 is compatible with that, the googleable postings that you can find there seems to indicate that). I'm willing to help you create a bootable image, but please expect that this will take at least a few days of trial and error. What I wanted to say: If you have that time and motivation, please buy such a device and help us create an openSUSE image for it :-) Thanks, Dirk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-arm+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-arm+owner@opensuse.org
